6 Mar – Spectacular news for Cambodian fans who have been gearing up for quite some time now to watch "Funan", as the Cambodian animated film on Khmer Rouge is set to screen in Phnom Penh this month.
It will first be screened at the 2019 Cambodia International Film Festival, happening from 9 to 14 March, before showing at IFC (Institut Francias Du Cambodge) on three dates: 22, 29 and 30 March 2019.
It will be screened in French OV with English subtitles, as a part of "The French Fortnight" hosted by IFC.
Tickets for the screenings are priced at USD3 or USD1 for students.
This critically acclaimed film has won accolades at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and the Animation is Film Festival last year, and received nominations at many more.
Based on the family story of first-time director Denis Do, "Funan" details the fight and survival of a young mother named Chou as she embarks on a quest to find her 4-year-old son who has been snatched by the Khmer Rouge regime.
